Wreck claims life

NICOLE NORRIS/THE GREENVILLE STANDARD

Friday afternoon Alabama State Troopers responded to three separate crashes on I-65 between the 105 and 107 mile markers. Two of the crashes had no injuries. The third crash occurred at the 106 mile marker and claimed the life of a 10-year-old Nashville child.

According to state troopers, the single-vehicle crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. The 10-year-old child was killed when the 2006 Dodge Durango SUV, in which she was a passenger, ran off the road and overturned in the median. The child, who was not using a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Wayne Garlock.

The driver and five other passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
