FDA finishes regular season 13-14

BRUCE BRANUM/THE GREENVILLE STANDARD

It was busy this past week for the FDA Eagles baseball team as they finished their regular season games. Unfortunately the Eagles went 2-5 and ended the regular season at 13-14.

Fort Dale started off hot, and on Monday, April 10, the Eagles beat the East Memorial Wildcats 15-0. Against the Wildcats, Tripp Richardson, Luke Taylor, Braxton Daniels and Douglas Crews had 2 hits each and combined for 9 RBI’s to earn the win.

Their next foe was region powerhouse Monroe on April 11. Monroe offered no mercy to the Eagles in their double header at FDA, and 10-run ruled them twice, winning 10-0 in the first game and 14-1 in the second. Daniels and William Crenshaw had the only hits for the Eagles in the first game. Richardson and Sullivan Harold had the only hits for FDA in the second game.

With a day off, the Eagles played a double header against Eastwood Academy on Thursday, April 13 at FDA, their last games of the regular season. The Eagles bats were hot and they won the first game 9-3. Jackson Blackmon was the winning pitcher. William Crenshaw had an excellent day at the plate with 3 hits. Jason Little and Baron Brack followed with 2 hits each and Taylor led the team with 3 RBI’s.

In the second game of the evening the Eagles got behind early and despite a great effort lost to Eastwood 11-10. Brack led the Eagles with 3 hits.

Before the Eastwood games, FDA recognized their only senior on the team, William Crenshaw. Crenshaw was a three year starter at all outfield positions and has had an excellent career at FDA. Next year, he will attend Huntington College and play baseball for the Hawks.

Fort Dale is waiting to see if they make the playoffs. Their region counter parts, the Hooper Academy Colts and the Morgan Academy Senators face off on Monday, April 17 in a double header. Hooper must win two both games for the Eagles to make the playoffs
