June 11 turned out to be a great day for catching some catfish. It was complete with beautiful although rather warm weather.

The annual event was a great success with 36 young anglers. The fish were really hungry and everyone left with a good stringer of fish.

After the fun down by the American Legion Pond ended, the event moved inside for some air conditioning and good food. The kids along with the adults were treated with grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and cold drinks. Door prize tickets were handed out as the registered kids showed up. Twelve lucky kids received a 33 rod and reel combo and one extra lucky young man won a lifetime fishing license sponsored by the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association.

The hosts would like to give a big thanks to all of the sponsors for making this year a huge success. The sponsors for this year were the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Butler County Sheriff’s Office, American Legion, Coastal Forest Products, Fred’s of Greenville and the Alabama Conservation Enforcement Officers Association.
