The City of Greenville is now responsible for the repair, maintenance and lighting of Jameson Lane.

Last Monday night the city council voted to accept Jameson Lane as a road.

City Clerk, Sue Arnold, has been appointed as Elections Manager and Absentee Ballot Manager for the 2016 municipal election.

The mayor is seeking re-election and is disqualified to perform certain duties in the Aug. 23 election or the run-off election on Oct. 4.

The city council also voted to pass the sales tax holiday.

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 5 and ending at midnight on Aug. 7 Alabama will hold its eleventh annual sales tax holiday giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales or use tax.

Items that are exempt include: clothing of $100 or less per; computers, computer software and school computer supplies – a single purchase with a sales price of $750 or less; school supplies, school art supplies and school instructional material of $50 or less; and books of $30 or less, per book.
