The Greenville Community Theatre (GCT) is producing a Missoula Children’s Theater performance of “Rapunzel” this September.

According to GCT President Mollie Waters, the production will result in the casting of up to 60 local youth ages kindergarten through 12th grade.

“We are excited to bring this production to Greenville,” said Waters. “Missoula has produced previous shows in our city through the efforts of the Greenville Area Arts Council and the Butler County School System. We have seen what wonderful things they can do in only a week’s time.”

According to Waters, two Missoula Children’s Theatre personnel members will arrive in Greenville on Sept. 18, take one week to rehearse and put on the show, and then depart for their next destination on the following Sunday.

“It’s going to be a pretty intense week,” said Waters. “The auditions will be on Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. with a practice immediately after. Then, on Tuesday through Friday of that week, there will be a four-hour rehearsal each evening leading up to two performances at the Ritz Theatre on that Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.”

To help with the auditioning process, the GCT will only be accepting pre-registration audition application forms until they have enough for each age group they need.

“We are looking to fill 16 roles for kindergarten through age seven, 28 roles for ages eight to twelve, and 16 roles for ages 13-18,” said Waters. “We will also be looking for four youth to work as assistant directors during the show.”

Waters said that audition applications for the show will be avail
able for pickup beginning on Sept. 1 at area schools or via email at gctheater1@outlook.com.

“We really hope to have a good turnout,” said Waters. “We have so much young talent in Greenville, and we hope that the community will support it.”
