WALLACE EUGENE NEWTON

Newton, Wallace Eugene, 76, a resident of Greenville passed away on Aug. 15. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 3 p.m. on Aug. 17 from the Johnson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Allen Stephenson officiating. Burial followed in Damascus Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directing arrangements.

Wallace was Pastor of Springhill Baptist Church where he served for 20 years. Before Springhill Baptist Church he was Pastor at several other churches. Wallace served in the Marine Corps during the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Newton and Eva Reynolds Newton Daughtery. Survivors include: sister, Ann Taylor of Greenville; brothers, Bill Newton of Honoraville and Pete Newton of Greenville. Wallace is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
