Special to The Standard

The Greenville Community Theatre will present a Missoula Children Theatre’s production of “Rapunzel” on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Ritz.

The show will feature the performances of up to 60 area children.

According to Mollie Waters, GCT president, auditions for the show will be on Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. at the Ritz. Waters says she expects a large turnout at the auditions.

“These shows have drawn lots of children to the auditions in the past,” said Waters. “Regrettably, only 60 children will be cast, which is why we decided to do a pre-registration audition application.”

Waters explained students who are pre-registered for the show will automatically get to audition on Sept. 19.

“While we encourage any child who is interested in being in the show to come to the audition, those who have pre-registered will get to audition first,” said Waters.

“Once the pre-registered students have auditioned, then other children who are interested in being in the show will be able to audition, too, until all the roles are cast. There’s still time for parents to pre-register their children in order to guarantee them an audition spot!”

Waters said the audition process will take up to two hours on Sept. 19 with casting to be announced after and rehearsals starting that same night from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“The schedule is rigorous,” said Waters, “but it is only for one week. Students who are cast for the show will be engaged in rehearsals each night of the week followed by two shows on Sept. 24.”

Waters said tickets for the show will go on sale the week of the production. They will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets will be available at McFerrin’s, The Pineapple and The Medicine Shoppe. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the day of the performance.

“We are looking forward to bringing this opportunity to the children of our area,” said Waters. “There’s so much talent in this town, and this experience is a way to showcase that talent for our youth.”
