“Rapunzel” play will be Sept. 24
Special to The Standard
“It’s show time!”
The Greenville Community Theatre (GCT) will present a Missoula Children Theatre’s production of “Rapunzel” this Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Ritz.
The show will feature the performances of many area children.
According to Mollie Waters, GCT president, auditions for the show were held Monday afternoon at the Ritz.
“We had a large turnout,” said Waters. “One of the most wonderful things about this show is that it will feature the acting talents of children from all over the county.”
Students from W. O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, Greenville Middle School, Greenville High School, Fort Dale Academy, Georgiana High School, and McKenzie High School will perform in “Rapunzel.”
“We even have one child from Crenshaw County and a few children who are home-schooled,” said Waters. “For me, the fact that we have so many children coming from all these different places is one of the best parts about being in a show. These students will get to work with people they have never even met before, but when it’s all over, they’ll have gained new friends and will have a better appreciation for the hard work it takes to put on a theatrical performance.”
Tickets for the show are now on sale. They are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Tickets are available at McFerrin’s, The Pineapple and The Medicine Shoppe. Tickets can also be purchased at the door on the day of the performance.
“Butler County really supports its youth,” said Waters. “I hope the citizens of our county will come out and see this show. These are our children performing!”
