The Fort Dale Academy JV Eagles hosted Morgan Academy Senators this past Tuesday and lost 21-16. The Eagles, behind captains Bruce Acreman and David Bloodsworth, fought a hard game against the Senators.
In the first quarter, the Senators kicked off to the Eagles and Clay Mansmann ran the ball to the 52-yard line and with 6:20 on the clock the Eagles scored their first touchdown. The extra point try for two was good making the score 8-0. Fort Dale then kicked off to Morgan and the Senators moved the ball down to the 4-yard line with 2:00 on the clock and were able to punch it into the end zone and converted the two point try, making the score 8-8 and the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Fort Dale was not able to score but Morgan was able to drive it down the field on a 92-yard run and punch it in for a Morgan TD. The extra point failed and the score was 15-8. Late in the third quarter, with 1:26 on the clock, Morgan was able to score again and the extra point was no good, ending the quarter 21-8. In the third quarter, the Eagles got their momentum back as quarterback Baron Brack hit Jacob Foster for a 52-yard pass moving the Eagles to the 11-yard line. On the next play, Brack was able to connect with Brice Acreman for another FDA touchdown. The Eagles converted the two point try with 1:36 left in the third quarter, making the score was 21-16.
In the fourth quarter, it was all defense by both teams as they kept each other out of the end zone. Top defensive players for Fort Dale were Caden Coker, Dalton Daniels, and Jacob Foster.
Fort Dale will be back on their home field on Oct. 18 to face off with Monroe Academy. It will be their last game of the season.
