Wyatt Watkins (son of Brittany and Jay Watkins) was diagnosed with Chronic Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction in Oct. 2014. CIPO is a very rare and disabling GI disease. Less than 100 kids are diagnosed a year and there is very little treatment and help for it. CIPO affects Wyatt’s entire colon and has begun to move into the small intestines and stomach. It ultimately has paralyzed his colon and has caused him to be medically dependent on medical alternatives. After many surgeries and months in and out of the hospital he is finally able to eat by mouth and is no longer dependent on IV feeds. Wyatt is still being treated for the side effects due to CIPO. He currently is having a genetic study done in in Cincinnati, sees a motility specialist in Atlanta and Columbus, Ohio, and has monthly iron infusions in Birmingham to replace the nutrients that his intestines and stomach are not able to digest. To help with medical and traveling expenses, they are raffling off a set of four wheelers, a Kawasaki Bayou 250 and a Yamaha Bruin 350. Tickets will be sold from Oct. 25 until Dec. 8. The drawing will be held on Dec. 9. An account for Wyatt has been set up at Guardian Credit Union in Greenville for any donations.
