Despite the hour and a half delay, due to officials being at the wrong school, the Fort Dale Eagles soared high against the Lake Side Chiefs Friday night winning their last regular season game 42-20.
The Eagles were a little antsy on offense in their first possession and received several false start penalties, however this did not keep them from scoring on their first possession. Lake Side responded with a touchdown on their first possession, but missed the point after kick making the score 7-6.
With a fumble by the Eagles at the Chiefs 5-yard line at the end of the first quarter, the Chiefs recovered and scored with 8:42 left in the second quarter. Lake Side successfully completed a two point conversion attempt make the score 14-7.
After that touchdown, the Fort Dale Eagles took over the game and did not let the Chiefs score again until the end of the fourth quarter.
Eagle players who contributed were Clay Mansmann who lit up the scoreboard first. Luke Taylor, Sawyer Hennis and Tanner Carwright added touchdowns of their own and Andrew Salter added 2 of his own.
Taylor had 116 passing yards and was 14 for 16 passing; Taylor also had 11 carries for 131-yards. Salter ran for 77-yards on 9 carries. William Sherling had 3 catches for 35-yards. Kicker William Crenshaw was 6 for 6 in point after attempts.
Defensively, Zach Kendrick had 8 tackles. Lance Powell and Tripp Richardson both had an interception and Braxton Daniels recovered a fumble.
