Greenville High School student and cheerleader, Alyssa Joyce-Ann Lear, participated in the 8th Annual Relay for Life Beauty Pageant of Crenshaw County this past weekend.
Aylssa was named Miss Relay and Relay Buck Winner for raising $702.50.
Each year she has walked in memory, and in honor of friends and loved ones, and every year she has raised hundreds of dollars to give back to the American Cancer Society.
This year she made it priority to raise money and compete in the pageant after losing her grandmother to cancer, recently in July. “I believe that cancer shouldn’t be the end of everything in your life, it should be the start. I don’t think my grandmother would have wanted me to stop fighting for her. I know she started living her life to the fullest even if it was the end” said Lear.
In total, all the pageant participants raised nearly $6,000 for the American Cancer Society.
