Lady Eagles win tournament

The FDA Lady Eagles softball team took home the first place trophy in Round Robin tournament held this past weekend at Fort Dale. The FDA boys placed second in their Round Robin.

So far this season the girls have an even record of 4 wins and 4 losses. They have losses to Lakeside, 14-10 on Feb. 18; Macon East, 9-1 and 16-2 on Feb. 20 and Lowndes, 12-3 on Feb. 23. They have wins against South Montgomery, 13-1 on Feb. 24; Crenshaw, 6-4 on Feb. 25; Hooper, 16-1 on Feb. 25 and Lowndes, 9-8 on Feb. 25.

Anna Blake Langford was named MVP for the tournament and Alex Little and Ashley Brogden made All Tournament for FDA.

Head Coach Josh Ritter said, “I am pleased so far with our girls’ performance. Of course, we have things to work on but I very proud of the way the girls played in this tournament.”

The FDA boys place second in their Round Robin tournament, coming in just behind Lowndes Academy.

Their record to date is 4-2. They have wins against Lakeside, 7-6 on Feb. 18; Crenshaw, 12-2 on Feb. 24; South Montgomery, 11-6 on Feb. 24 and Wilcox, 7-4 on Feb. 25. Their losses have come from Macon East, 15-14 on Feb. 20 and Lowndes, 6-2 on Feb. 25.

Luke Taylor and Braxton Daniels made All Tournament for FDA.

Head Coach Marshall Watts said of the tournament, “We have had great weather, great attendance and out team has pitched well and hit well.”

 

Both the FDA boys and girls played their first area game at Monroe Academy on Feb. 28. and plan to attend the Lowndes Academy tournament this Thursday through Saturday.
