The Georgiana Panthers ended their season Monday with a 82-55 loss to Sacred Heart.

This isn’t the first time the Panthers have faced Sacred Heart. They fell to the Cardinals last year in the 1A State basketball finals 95-75.

The Panthers had a small lead in the beginning of the game, but with 2:37 left in the first quarter, the Cardinals took over the lead and led the remainder of the game.

Despite the loss, senior Nizaiah Smith had a double double scoring 20 points and recovering 11 rebounds. Junior Jamichael Stallworth scored 12 points and had 5 rebounds.

As a team, the Panthers shot 40 percent from the field and 80 percent at the line.

This was the third time since 2012 that the Panthers advanced to the Final Four, losing to Pickens County in 2012. The Panthers also advanced to the Final Four in 1980 and 1992. The Georgiana Panthers ended their season with a 27-3 record.
