The Georgiana Lady Panthers traveled to McKenzie last Friday night and brought home a 5-4 win over the Lady Tigers.

Lady Panther junior pitcher Courtney Powell secured the win from the mound. She had 8 strikeouts and allowed 8 hits and only 3 walks. McKenzie senior pitcher Kaitlyn Padgett had a great night on the mound, despite the loss. She had 12 strikeouts, 4 walks and 8 hits.

Powell was also successful at the plate for the Lady Panthers batting 2-for-3. She had two doubles and 2 RBIs for the night.

McKenzie’s senior Amber Macks batted 3-for-3 with two singles and one triple. Junior Maggie Brown batted 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

“I thought the girls played with a lot of poise and performed well under pressure,” said Georgiana coach Ezell Powell. “They came through with big hits and defensive stops at key moments throughout the game.”

Georgiana will be looking for redemption when they play Brantley in area play tomorrow. In last week’s game, Georgiana lost 16-0 to the Lady Bulldogs. The game will take place in Brantley at 4:30 p.m.
