Mite League begins league play

 

City of Greenville Mayor Dexter McLendon throws out the first pitch at the Mite Baseball league opening ceremonies on April 4. League play started that night with the Reds beating the Rangers 5-0 and the Twins defeating the Red Sox 8-1. Eli McBride of the Twins was leading hitter and scorer for the evening. He had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. One of which was an in-the-park homerun. (Bruce Branum | The Standard)
