ZOLLIE W. OWENS SR.

 

Funeral services for the late Brother Zollie W. Owens Sr. were held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from Greenville High School Auditorium. Bishop Robert J. McWilliams Sr., officiated. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services, Greenville, directed.

Brother Zollie W. Owens Sr. was born March 21, 1952 in Greenville, Butler County, Alabama. He often spoke affectionately of his late mother, Love Lue Owens.  His final wishes were to return to his native hometown and be buried next to his mother.

During the fall 2004, Zollie met Kimberly at Greenville High School. They reconnected in November 2006 and were married July 7, 2007.  In 2010, he retired from Butler County Board of Education after 28 years of service.

Brother Zollie became a member of New Testament Holiness Church on January 14, 2007. He was baptized June 10, 2007. Later, he moved his membership to New Life Holiness Apostolic Church where he served on the usher board and kitchen committee.

Zollie’s spirit returned back to the Lord on Palm Sunday April 9, 2017.

He is preceded in death by his mother Love Lue Owens; his sister Claudia Caldwell; his wife of 24 years Virginia F. Blackmon Owens and his oldest brother Leavy Owens.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Kimberly McWilliams Owens; daughter, Dianna M. Owens; son, Minister Zollie (Sharon) Owens Jr.; daughter, Vanessa F. Owens; stepson, Issachar James Watson; grandchildren, Wynesha Goldsmith, Carolette Thompson, and Joshua Timothy Owens; brothers, Willie (Edna) Owens Jr., Greenville and Robert (Annie Pearl) Owens, Montgomery; sisters, Annie S. Murphy, Mary Dean Crenshaw, Helen Jean Crenshaw and Bettye (Alvin) Crenshaw, all of Greenville, Jeannette Scott; brother-in-law, Robert J. McWilliams Jr.; goddaughter, Hannah Wesley; godson, Christopher William Kelsaw and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
