KATHERINE “KATHY” ELIZABETH HALL BUTTS
Katherine “Kathy” Elizabeth Hall Butts, age 82, of Greenville, quietly departed this life on May 23, 2017.
She is survived by her son, Randy Butts and spouse Roxie; daughter, Sandy Bellefleur and spouse Greg, and children, Paula, Haley and Ashley; granddaughter, Katherine Butts-Pruett and spouse Ashley; grandson, Paul Butts and spouse Jessica, child Millie; beloved companion, Austin Bowman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilkie Hall and Elsie Pippen Deavers; brother, Billie Hall; sister, Ella Clair Smith; husband and father of her children, Paul Butts; and husband, Leroy Butts.
Kathy was born on February 18, 1935, in Luverne. She was “Grandmama” to two and “Kakie to three, and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses, collecting frog and angel figurines, baking, and spending time outside enjoying the quiet country life.
Possessing a true servant’s heart, Kathy spent many years managing the Goodwill Store and teaching the 2 and 3 year old Sunday school class at Southside Baptist Church. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her Christian life was a beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her.
Visitation was held May 27 from 10– 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at Dunklin & Daniels funeral home. Burial followed at Sunrise Memorial Park.
Kathy always lived by the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
In lieu of flowers or memorial donations her family requests that you do a loving act of kindness, make someone laugh, send a card, give a hug, or say “I love you” in her memory.
