Stallworth scores 55 in G’ana win

MONTGOMERY –

Georgiana senior guard Ja’Michael Stallworth scored a school-record 55 points in last week’s 88-81 overtime win over J.F. Shields to land in the AHSA Basketball Spotlight this week. Stallworth had 27 in the first half, 18 in the third and fourth quarters and closed out going 10-for-10 at the foul line in overtime as Coach Kirk Norris’ Panthers improved to 22-2 on the season. Stallworth missed his first free throw of the night and then made with 18 in a row to finish 18-of-19. He made two free throws in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. Stallworth has been a part of 108 Georgiana wins in his high school career. The Panthers have lost just 11 times during that stretch. The 55 points surpassed the previous high of 41 by Jacquez Payton in 2014. Stallworth now has 1,559 points 119 career games and is averaging 22.9 points per game this season. He also has 397 career assists, 381 career rebounds and 251 career steals.
