Incumbent Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden lost to contender Carlton Cook, who is the Georgiana Police Chief, in the recent June 5 democrat party primary elections held in Butler County. Both campaigned hard across the county. A small crowd of Chief Cook supporters stood and clapped when the announcement was made of Cook’s final vote count in the Courthouse Annex 2. In another local race for coroner, Willie Scott defeated incumbent Wayne Garlock. Scott faces no opposition from a republican in the general election in November. To date, there will be a republican primary runoff on July 17. The offices to be included on the ballot are Lt. Gov., Attorney General, U.S. House of Representatives District 2 and Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries. The result totals of some offices that were on the ballots last Tuesday are listed below. Of the total of 13,806 registered voters in Butler County as of June 4, only 5,201 voted.
