FRED ALLEN OWENS

 

Funeral services for the late Mr. Fred Allen Owens were held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. from Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.

Rev. Gary Powell, Pastor and Rev.Henry Smith III, officiated. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services, Greenville, directing.

Fred’s journey began on May 4, 1951 in Gadsden.

His family moved to Greenville where he confessed Christ at an early age and joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. He graduated from Southside High School in 1969.

Later, Fred relocated to Detroit, Mich. but returned in the spring of 2016 to live in Greenville. Fred enjoyed fishing, golfing and fellowship. He cherished the love and laughter that everyone had to offer in which he unselfishly returned.

His parents, Willie Fred and Birdie Lee Owens and one brother, John Russell, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Deborah Smith Owens of Greenville. Four daughters:  Renee (Don), Latecia, Melissa & Eunique (LaChonce) all of Detroit, Mich.; two sons: Latrelle (Felecia) Owens, Detroit, Mich. and Antiune Robinson, Greenville; sons and daughters through marriage: James, Bumoni, Keita, Henry, Lakeisha, Sammy; sisters and brother, Valerie Mickles and Deborah Lewis, Greenville,Terry (Demeris) Owens, Fort Washington, Md.; two devoted friends, Milton Rhodes and Andre Withers; two sons-in-law, 36 grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law, six nieces, three nephews and host of cousins and friends.

Fred’s journey ended on June 21, 2018 in Greenville at L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital.
