With several bordering states having contentious elections, namely Georgia and Florida, Alabama’s general election went relatively smooth.
For Butler County, there was a little disturbance as Wayne Garlock mounted a successful last minute write-in campaign for Butler County Coroner against democratic candidate nominee Ollie Scott.
Garlock had lost to Scott in the democratic primary on June 6.
Steve Norman, Judge of Probate for Butler County certified the vote count tallies this past Friday after a three panel committee counted the handwritten votes.
Among write-in names for Coroner other than Garlock were Dale Matthew, Kenny Harden, Mary Fisher, PaPa Jinks, Gerald Gena, Chuck Norris, Michael Braden and Chris Sells.
Each of the write-candidates other than Garlock and Matthew received one vote. Garlock had 3,643 votes and Matthew received two votes. Scott had 3,408 votes cast on the ballot.
