BEVERLY ANN JOHNS
Beverly Ann Johns, 67, a resident of Georgiana passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2018.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 from the Johnson Funeral Chapel. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana directed arrangements. Burial followed in Hickory Hill Cemetery.
Beverly Ann Wilson was born on June 8, 1951 to the late Gladys Mae Mixon and Samuel Wilson. After graduating from Amityville High School in 1969, Beverly went on to marry Ruben Johns, Jr. in December 1975. To this union, they had three children, Demetrius, Nefertari, and Equilla.
Beverly began her career and worked for 30 plus years at Pilgrim State Hospital as a physiatrist therapy aid. During this time Beverly went on to earn an Associate’s of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Farmingdale.
When Beverly retired, she enjoyed listening to soul music or planting in her garden. She was known and loved by many for her “cool, laid-back attitude,” her love for African Culture and her heritage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Johns, Jr., and her brother, Dwilight Sole, Jr.
Survivors include: daughters, Nefertari Johns-Mayhew, McDonnough, Ga. and Equilla Johns, Stone Mountain, Ga.; son, Demetrius Johns, Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Rita Wilson, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Yvonne Wilson, Scottsdale, Ariz.; brothers, Charles Wilson, Mt. Vernon, N.Y., Larry Wilson, Brentwood, N.Y., Louis Wilson, Deluth, Ga., and Rance Wilson, Patchogue, N.Y.; grandchildren: Jelaun Johns, Stephon Johns, AAndia Mayhew, Anaya Mayhew, Ananda Mayhew, Nasir Mayhew, and Mikiah Johns-Williams.
A Gathering of Family and Friends was held Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
