Javoris Reed was charged in connection with a Thanksgiving Day Murder on Nov. 22.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) received a call around 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 in reference to a shooting which took place on Whisper Lane which is located just outside the Greenville city limits.

“We responded to the call and found one suspect had been shot and he was pronounced dead at the scene. We arrested Javoris Reed of Hayneville which was the victim’s brother-in-law,” said Harden.

“Based on what the BCSO found out, it was a close-up altercation between a brother and a sister and the husband stepped in and told Reed to take his hands off his wife. In the process of that, the victim was shot,” Harden added.

Reed was arrested and charged with murder and is currently being held in the Butler County Correctional Facility. A bond had not been set by 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26.
