RONALD CRAIG GREER, SR.

Ronald Craig Greer, Sr., 77 years old, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2019 at his home in Greenville.

The family held a graveside service on Monday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at Pine Crest Cemetery located at 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy, Mobile, AL 36605.

Ron was a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Ron retired to his farm in Greenville following 35 years of employment with Alabama Power Company.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. Greer and Alma Corrine King Greer, his brother Roy Golburn Whitaker, his sisters Nella Ruth Whitaker Sparks and Brenda Lynn Greer Smith Havard and his brother Bobby Roy Greer, Sr.

A devoted husband and father, Ron is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mildred Elizabeth “Betty” Smallwood Greer, his son Ronald Craig Greer, Jr. and his wife Debbie Umbarger Greer, his daughter, Monica Greer Garms and her husband, Alan Garms.

He is also survived by his five loving grandchildren, Ronald Craig “Trey” Greer III, Mackenzie Victoria Greer, William Bradley Garms, Samuel Alan Garms, and Joseph Boyd Garms. Ron is also survived by his niece, Rhonda Lynne Smith McGill and his nephew, Bobby Roy Greer, Jr.

In addition to working on his farm, Ron was an avid fan of Auburn University athletics.
