DEANA VICKERY ROPER
Memorial Service for Mrs. Deana Vickery Roper, 48, of McKenzie was held at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 1, at Johnson Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Foster and Lester Odom Jr. officiating. Mrs. Roper passed away Friday, May 29, at her home.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Casey Roper; her son Austin Roper; and daughter Jamie Leigh; her parents Bo and Janice Vickery; brother Chad Vickery; niece Shelby Vickery; and nephew Logan Vickery.
Deana was born Feb. 6, 1972 in Greenville, to Bo and Janice Vickery. She was a 1990 valedictorian graduate of McKenzie High. She graduated from Troy University with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Elementary Education and later graduated from Alabama State University with a Masters degree in Library Science,
Deana married Casey Roper on July 12, 1997 in Sevierville, Tenn. She was employed by the Butler County School System in 1997 and was a teacher at Greenville Middle School and retired from Georgiana High School in 2018 as the school librarian.
Deana truly lived life to the fullest and was loved by all. She enjoyed fishing, especially deep sea fishing. She liked to cook and spend time with her family. She loved to travel and go to the beach. She loved to simply sit in her rocking chair by the pool. She was a loving wife, mother, and daughter.
