ELLA CLAIR RHODES TILL

Mrs. Ella Claire Rhodes Till, of Greenville, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Graveside services were held, Saturday, March 13, at 10 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery with Ministers Richard Taylor, Lynn Taylor and Steve Kopp officiating with Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Visitation at the grave site began at 9:30 a.m.

Mrs. Till was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rhodes; her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Merton S. “Ham” Till; brothers, Robert Rhodes (Bobbie) and Joe Rhodes (Louise); sisters, Ruby Hester (C.B.), Edna Ward, (John Albert) and Jeanette Tesla (George); daughter in law, Luanne Till.

Mrs. Till is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Walker of Lafayette, La., Merri Bludsworth (Terry) of Ozark; son, Lowell Till of Montgomery; grandchildren, Rachael Sharpton (Neil) of Montgomery, Bailey Waller (Preston) of Montgomery, Adam Pouncey (Melissa) of Birmingham, Katie Rankin (Ken) of Birmingham, Leigh Ann Richardson (Chris) of Las Vegas, Nev.; and great grandchildren, Calvin Pouncey, Ellie Pouncey, and Phillip Waller.

Mrs. Till was born and raised in Sandcut, Alabama. She was an active member of Rhodes Chapel United Methodist Church and for 35 years served as treasurer.

She and her husband proudly served their country in the United States Air Force for 26 years. Much of that time Mr. Till was deployed to places far away. Mrs. Till capably and courageously cared for their children in the states where they made many friends both younger and older which she talked about until the end.

In 1969 they retired from the Air Force and moved back to Sandcut. They remodeled their home into the beautiful place it is now nestled behind her beloved magnolia tree.
