REFORD DALE NORRIS

Reford Dale Norris, 69, a resident of Honoraville, passed away Thursday, April 29. The funeral service was held Monday, May 3, at 1 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church. Brother Herbert Brown officiated the service under the direction of Dunklin Funeral Home. Burial followed at Antioch East Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held two hours prior to the service.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey Lee & Arrona Duncan Norris and an infant brother, Ralph Norris. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Velecia Thompson Norris; daughter Christy Norris; son, Tony (Tori) Norris; grandsons, Braden Norris and Jaxon McGhee; sister Helen (Larry) Rountree; and several nieces and nephews.
Dale was a 1970 graduate of Greenville High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Troy State University in 1979. He surrendered to the ministry on March 12, 1978 and attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Dale was ordained at Antioch East Baptist Church on June 24, 1984. He began his pastorate at Macedonia Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama in February 1984 and served as pastor at numerous churches in south Alabama including Springbank Baptist (Chatom), McKenzie Baptist (McKenzie), Northside Baptist (Troy), First Baptist Church of Gantt (Gantt), Mount Pisgah (Andalusia), and Pleasant Home (Crenshaw County). Most recently, Dale was the pastor at Mount Pisgah (Butler County) and Welcome Baptist (McKenzie) where he last took the pulpit on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021.
Pallbearers were Kody Rountree, Kyle Rountree, Dan Norris, Randall Sims, Tommy Odom, Ezell Powell, Randy Sexton, and Randy Harvill. Honorary Pallbearers were Alton Norris, Billy Gene Norris, Jeff Norris, Mike Norris, and Mason Halacker. Memorials can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (Parkinson’s research) or a charity of your choice.
