‘Big C’ Golf Tourney June 18

Two weeks from this Friday will be The Fourth Annual Colin “Big C” MacGuire Endowed Scholarship Golf Tournament.
The credit for this tournament goes to Cody Wesley and Van Huggins. Five years ago, they called me and said they wanted to come by the house and talk to me about something.
I said to myself, “I bet it is something about Alabama.”
A few days later they came by the house. What they asked was, “We are wondering if you would mind if we put a scholarship in your name with the local Alabama alumni association and use a golf tournament to raise the funds.”
This was not what I thought they wanted to talk about. This never crossed my mind.
When they asked, it was easy to say yes too. Me, personally, I could not do this. This is a way, I could help.
The first tournament was on May 12, 2017. The tournament did well enough to make the event of the year for 2017 with The National Alumni Association.
The reason why was because of the people here in Butler County. Thank you for what you have done to make this happen and successful.
It is also a success because of former players Like Bill Searcey, Major Ogilive, Lou Green, Jim Bob Harris, Shon Lee, Scott Homan, Keith Pugh, William Davis, Will Davis, Andy Gothard, Duffy Boles, Bob Dasher, Roger Schlutz, and Jim Bunch. If missed a player, I apologize. I also thank the golfers.
Last year, there was not a tournament because of the pandemic.
The format is a four man scramble and will cost $125 per player. There are varying levels of sponsorship available. A Hole Sponsorship is $100 and if you want to attend the reception only, it is $40.
Eli Gold “The Voice of The Crimson Tide” will be guest speaker.
The tournament starts at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 18 and will be held at the RTJ Golf Trail Cambrian Ridge. The reception and awards ceremony will start at 6 p.m. at 600 Terrell Street Greenville.
Again I want to thank everybody with the local chapter and thank you Cody and Van.
