County players make state teams

Greenville High School

GHS senior Laquan Robinson was named from the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) to the 2021 Alabama High School Football All State (AHSFAS) first team in Class 5A.

Both he and GHS senior Jacob Foster were selected to play in the annual Alabama High School Athletic Association North-South 2021 All Star football game.

The game was played at the Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile on Dec. 17.

Robinson played DB for the South squad. He recorded a 77-yard interception, four tackles and was named South MVP in the Dec. 17 game.

Foster played DE/LB for the South squad and intercepted a pass, which set up a touchdown.

The South lost to the North 14-10.

 

Fort Dale Academy

FDA had three players named from the ASWA to the 2021 AHSFAS teams in the Alabama Independent School Association.

Sophomore Alan Alvarez made first team all-state kicker.  He was 24-27 in extra point attempts and also had field goals from 33 and from 42 yards.

Senior Sam Bloodworth made first team all-state receiver.  He had 68 receptions for 856 yards (12.6 yard per catch average) and six touchdowns.

Bloodworth was also selected to play in the 2021 AISA North South All Star game.

Sophomore Ethan Alford made second team all-state punter. He averaged 35.9 yards per punt on 28 punts for 1005 yards including 10 that were downed inside the 20-yard line.
