Lawrence named Firefighter of the Year

The Greenville Fire Department (GFD) recently held their annual awards ceremony at the Fireman Christmas Dinner. Captain Dale Lawrence was honored with Firefighter of the Year. Lawrence is also the CPR Trainer for the GFD. He has 25 years of experience as a firefighter with almost 20 years of those with the GFD. His wife, April, said of Dale that since she met him all he ever wanted to do was be a firefighter and he’s the type of person who would risk his life for others. She added, “I know if I was trapped in a house fire, he’s the one I would want to save me.” Dale said, “I’m just doing my job, I think there are others more deserving. It takes a team to make it all work. If I wanted medals and honors I would have stayed in the military.” (Photo submitted)
