JOHN THOMAS NEWTON

John Thomas Newton, age 84 of Greenville, died peacefully in his home surrounded by love on Saturday, March 26, 2022. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 30, from the Chapel of Dunklin Funeral Home beginning at 11 a.m. with Reverend Herbert Brown and Reverend Jason Simmons officiating. Burial follow at Ebenezer East Cemetery with Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Visitation was held on and a half hour prior to service time.

John was preceded in death by his parents, WR and Erie Newton; brother, Richard Newton; sisters, Edna Ruth (Huel) Owens, Clodine (Charlie) Ponder, and Viola (John) Mothershed; father and mother-in-laws, Winifred and Naomi Pond.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Gloria Newton; daughter, Amy Morris; granddaughters, Jessica (Daniel) Bell and Jennifer (Eugene) Baker; great grandchildren, Levi Sexton, Madelyn Bell, Rand Odom, and Ryder Odom along with five other bonus grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful people with Southern Care Hospice for their devoted care to John and his family during such a difficult time.
