WILLIAM ALLEN NEWTON

May 13, 1935 – April 26, 2022

Mr. William Allen Newton, 86, a resident of Honoraville, died on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. The funeral service was Friday, April 29, at Midway Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Brother Bruce Coker officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. Burial followed at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Mrs. Betty Kidd 121 Smothers Drive, Greenville, Alabama 36037 in his honor or to the charity of one’s own choice.

Mr. Newton is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Emmett Newton and Eva Reynolds Daughtry; brothers, Phillip Newton and Wallace Newton; and sister, Ann Newton Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 40 wonderful years, Sherlian Phelps Newton of Honoraville; sons, Wendell (Sandy) Newton of Fayetteville, Ga., and Steve (Brenda) Newton of Luverne; grandson, Danny (Kelley) Newton of Marietta, Ga.; granddaughters, Jenny Newton of Fayetteville, Ga., Ashley Newton (Adam) Garrison of Huntsville,  Maribeth Newton (Ben) Boyd of Lowndesboro, and Lorie Anne Newton of Luverne; two great-grandsons; brother, Charles “Pete” (Merle) Newton of Greenville; brothers-in-law, Douglas “Pete” Taylor of Greenville and Mack Phelps of Honoraville; along with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brandon Slagley, Dr. Manu Kavshik, and the staff of Regional Medical Center, Ivy Creek Home Health, and Southern Care Hospice for the care they provided during his illness.
