JOHN WILLIAM MARSHALL

Oct. 15, 1949 – Aug. 25, 2022

John William Marshall, 72, of Montgomery, passed away peacefully at home following an extended illness on Aug. 25, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on October 15, 1949 in Greenville to William Martin and Nellie Smith Marshall, both preceding him in death.  Also preceding him in death were his father-in-law, Willie Frank “Buddy” Williams; mother-in-law, Claire Stabler Williams; sister-in-law, Tina Williams Pouncey; and niece, Tracey Pouncey.

Surviving John are his beloved wife of 52 years Brenda Williams Marshall; their children, Matthew Marshall (Tammy) and Amanda Marshall; grandson, Moxley Marshall and bonus daughter and granddaughter, Leslie Price and Anslie Taylor. Also surviving John are his brother, Phillip Marshall (Pat); sisters, Phyllis Marshall Simmons (Benny Strong) and Sandra Marshall Porter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was a graduate of Greenville High School and Auburn University, a Certified Public Accountant and was retired from Koch Foods. He was a proud supporter of Lowndes Academy Athletics. Most importantly, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, granddaddy, brother, and uncle and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Pallbearers were Will Porter, Jack Hay, Joe Reese, Josh Simmons, Wes Floyd, Mark Hamit, and Ronald Wilkinson. Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Russell, Steve Stabler, Pat Russell, and Wes Smith.

Visitation was held at Dunklin Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, with services at 11 a.m. officiated by Bro. Justin Dixon followed by a private graveside service officiated by Roy Rogers.
