JOSEPH GERALD CATES

Mr. Joseph Gerald Cates, age 83, a resident of Fort Deposit, died on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, at Little Sandy Ridge Cemetery near Fort Deposit, with Minister Jack Cates officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday at Dunklin Funeral Home.

Mr. Cates was preceded in death by his wife Nancy C. Cates; an infant son; and his parents, James H. and Estelle C. Cates.

He is survived by his children, James C. Cates (Kay) of Boulder, Colo., Joseph E. Cates (Lourdes) of San Marino, Calif., Charlotte C. Gard (Duke) of Las Cruces, N.M., and Claire C. Haulk (Kevin) of Griffin, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce C. Foster of Fort Deposit.
