SHIRLEY MAE ATWELL

April 21, 1949 – Dec. 4, 2022

Shirley Mae Atwell, age 73, a resident of Greenville, passed away on Dec. 4, 2022.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 10, beginning at 11 a.m. from Antioch East Baptist Church with Brother Blair McBride and Brother Ronnie Boulware officiating and Dunklin Funeral Home directing.  The family received friends one hour prior to service time. Burial followed in the Antioch East Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alabama Children’s Home & Family Ministries, 325 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, Alabama 36303.

Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Billy Martin Mosley and Willie Mae Tillery; husband, Burl Dean Atwell, Sr.; an infant brother; and grandsons, JC Howell and Daughton Quates.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Quates (Jimmy), Barbara Howell, and Angela Von Braden (Tate); son, William Doyle Pierce (Christie Jones), all of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; brothers, Farris Mosley (Deborah) of Dothan, Mike Mosley (Deborah) and Terry Mosley, all from Greenville; along with eight great grandchildren.

Shirley led a life dedicated to the Lord, her children and extended family. She also served her community with her nursing career and Sunday School teaching. She was loved by all that knew her, and will be remembered by all for her caring and giving heart.
