McKenzie smashes Kinston

The 1A McKenzie Tigers (6-0) traveled to Kinston to take on the orange and blue Bulldogs (2-5) in regional play under the Friday night lights.

The Bulldogs came ready for a fight but were unable to budge the Tigers on the field and were defeated 52-6.

Senior Tiger Quay Jackson performed impressively with 109 rushing yards, 210 passing yards going 9-11 with 53 yards being the longest pass.

Senior Tiger Ayden Willsey finished the evening with 195 offensive yards on 15 attempts, 63 long, and 46 passing.

Freshman Tiger Cameron Merritt for three attempts, 41 offensive yards, with 36 long.

Senior Tiger Jolon Davis finished with 81 receiving yards and 65 long.

Freshman Kasthea Bullard pulled off 55 receiving yards with 29 long.

The team completed the evening with a total of 376 rushing yards, 210 passing yards, 40 total plays, and 586 yards of total offense.

McKenzie, now 7-0, will travel to face the 1A Brantley green and white Bulldogs, who are 5-2, for a region game this Friday night.

This matchup will probably determine the Region 2 champion. Both teams are 5-0 in region play.
