The Fort Dale Academy Eagles hosted the cardinal and gold Escambia Academy Cougars this past Friday and posted a 42-7 win over the hapless cats.

From the outset of receiving the kickoff, the Eagles were off to the races. Their first possession resulted in a 28-yard rushing touchdown by quarterback Blake Slagley at 9:20 mark in the first quarter.

Escambia answered with a passing touchdown at the mid mark of the first quarter and then the Eagles stiffened and kept the Cougars out of the end zone for the rest of the game.

The Eagles took the ensuing kickoff and marched down the field with Dain Winters scoring on an 11-yard rush with 4:43 on the clock.

Eagle Clay Gardner made good again on the point after attempt (PAT) and the score at the end of the first quarter was 14-7.

Early in the second quarter Slagley would call his own number again and score a 27-yard rushing touchdown.

Black would follow with 16-yard carry to the end zone at the mid mark of the second quarter. Gardner was successful with both PATs and the score at half was 28-7/

The third quarter would see Black run 5-yards for a touchdown and also Parker Crenshaw with a 17-yard scamper.

With both PATs good, the Eagles would slow the pace and defend their lead. The game ended 42-7.

Offensive leaders for the Eagles were Slagley with five carries for 70 yards, Isaac Lowery with 15 carries for 122 yards, and Dain Winters with eight carries for 71 yards.

Defensively, Jackson Rogers and Chandler Little each had four solo tackles.

The Eagles next travel to face the beleaguered orange and white Gators of Clarke Prep. They are 0-3 after losing to Monroe Academy  47-19.
