Under the Friday night lights at Harmon Field the Georgiana Panthers shutout the Tigers of Red Level 43-0.

The Panthers were 4-3 going into this fracas and 3-1 in Region 2 while the visiting Tigers of Red Level were 2-4 overall.

Red Level brought with them two significant back-to-back losses to Lafayette 56-8 and Elba 46-6 while Georgiana was coming off a loss to Brantley at home 16-12 which should have been a win.

The Georgiana squad, at the end of half, had the Tigers caged 43-0 and was firing on all 11 cylinders both offensively and on defense opting to keep the ball on the ground because Red Level couldn’t stop them.

The Tigers were only able to get into Panther Territory three times and two were because of penalties.

Head Coach Berry Bess’s claw of Panthers head down to Elba this Friday night for another real 1A Region 2 test against the 6-2 Tigers of Elba who are 4-1 in 1A Region 2.

Elba’s only losses came at the hands of 3A undefeated 7-0 Glenwood Gators of Phenix City 49-22 and our own McKenzie Tigers in four overtime donnybrook 80-78.

It can’t be understated that this 1A Region 2 matchup is very important for the Panthers that desperately need an impressive victory at Elba to truly stay in the hunt for a chance to play for a state championship.

However, according to the numbers from the same four teams each have played previously the Elba Tigers are a six point plus favorite at home.

A strong Panther defense is the key to this game and defensive coach Burleson surely will have his cats ready to play.
