Jones and Lowery Achiever winners

Friday evening, May 1, Mary Katherine Jones and Isaac Lowery were announced as recipients of the 2026 Butler County Achiever Award Scholarship.
Nineteen student-athletes were nominated by their respective schools with each exemplifying excellence in academics, athletics, church involvement, and service to their community.
Mary Katherine and Isaac were each awarded a $3,500 scholarship, made possible through the gracious donations of local businesses and individuals.
The event was held at the Wendell Mitchell Conference Center on the campus of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College and hosted by the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mary Katherine Jones
Mary Katherine Jones is a senior at Fort Dale Academy and the daughter of Ty and Jessica Jones. She has lettered in powerlifting, soccer, and tennis and is a dual enrollment student. She is actively involved in Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Eagle Representatives, Key Club, and the Turning Point USA Club. She is also the current AISA and PLU State Record Holder. Mary Katherine has served her community as a Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce Camellia Girl, volunteering at events such as the Christmas Parade, Camellia CityFest, and the Butler County Fair. She is a member of Walnut Street Church of Christ, where she volunteers in the food pantry, helps with Vacation Bible School, and participates in the youth group.
James Isaac Lowery
James Isaac Lowery is a senior at Fort Dale Academy and the son of Jeremy and April Lowery. He has lettered in baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and track and was named an AISA All-Star football player and the 2026 AISA 4×400 State Championship. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, Eagle Representatives, and the Student Government Association, and serves as President of Woodmen of the World Chapter 930. He is also a member of the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program. Isaac has participated in leadership opportunities including the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Conference, ALFA Youth Leadership Conference, Alabama Boys State, and the Alabama Baptist OneVoice Honor Choir, and serves as a DYW of Butler & Lowndes Counties Board Member. He is a member of Southside Baptist Church, where he is active in youth activities including Vacation Bible School, children’s church, nursery, and Discipleship Now.
