Family and friends traveled from near and far to honor Mom Alice Dean Shambray at her 100th birthday celebration held on May 30, at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery.
The joyful occasion brought together generations of loved ones to celebrate a remarkable woman whose life has been marked by faith, music, love, and service. Guests enjoyed musical tributes, a video presentation, and heartfelt reflections highlighting the impact Mom Alice has made throughout her century of life.
A special proclamation from Mayor Jae’Ques Brown of Greenville recognized her contributions and lasting influence on her hometown and beyond.
Known for her love of music, Mom Alice’s legacy as a pianist continues to inspire family, friends, and all who have been blessed by her ministry through song.
Music has long been a significant part of her life, and many shared memories of how her remarkable gift and faith have touched countless hearts over the years.
The love that she has consistently shown for God and others was felt and reciprocated in a powerful way.
The theme of the celebration reflected one of her favorite songs, “Jesus Is the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me,” a fitting tribute to a woman whose life has consistently pointed others toward God and His unfailing love.
Her familiar words, “Ninety-Nine and a Half Won’t Do,” gave a fresh revelation to all who were in attendance. Her life exemplifies the rewards of surrendering all to Him.
During her remarks, Mom Alice thanked everyone for the love shown to her and praised God for His goodness.
She also delighted guests with her expectation that everyone returns to the same location to celebrate her 102nd birthday.
Her word to everyone today, “To God be the glory for the things He has done in my life. Love, Mom Shambray!!”
