Americana

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I don’t mean to be cliché, but the photo featured here was taken by Renee Holder this past Independence Day.

The children on the bench are at the Greenville Library watching the fireworks display at Tiger Stadium. This photo is inspirational and took the words right out of my mouth.

Thoughts rushed through my mind as I sat looking at this photo. I found it hard to put into words how the picture made me feel.

Not in a thousand words but the photo says that It is a promise for tomorrow, a potential future for those children on the bench and all that dream.

The fireworks in the background are a vivid reminder why this nation exists and the men and woman that have sacrificed, bled, and died for so that we as a people do not have to face tyranny or oppression and have the freedom to seek opportunities and the pursuit of happiness.

No written word I can come up with except naming it best describes the photo, “A Promise For Tomorrow.”

This is one picture even Norman Rockwell would be jealous of this photo, because it literally screams Americana.

This picture should be blown up, nicely framed and displayed on an easel in City Hall for all to see. Am I wrong?
