Robert Joseph Vanderbye, 69, a resident of Greenville and a former resident of Cowarts died on Nov. 21. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 27 in the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with Minister Angie Long officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Mr. Vanderbye married Laura Kathryn Munro on July 15, 1967 in Chicago. He proudly served the U.S. Navy Submarine Fleet for 13 years before beginning his career in nuclear power. He retired from Farley after 28 years. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking and teaching his daughters, grandchildren, and students how to turn pens.
Mr. Vanderbye was preceded in death by his parents, Robert B. & Phoebe Vanderbye; his brother, Raymond Vanderbye. He is survived by his wife, Kay Vanderbye; daughters, Cheri Vanderbye and Patti Haataja (John); grandchildren, Allison, Ryan Riley, and Zachary Haataja; sister, Phoebe Latz and many nieces and nephews.
