Doris Smith Greer, a former resident of Selma and a native of her beloved Pine Apple passed away on May 24, 2017. She was born on August 26, 1924 at the old plantation home near Pine Apple.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Greer; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alexander Smith, Jr. (Louise Melton); two brothers, Robert A. Smith III and Henry Edward Smith; one sister, Louise Smith Dickson.
She is survived by two nieces, Louise Dickson Harmon (John Thomas) of Pine Apple; and Martha Dickson Curlee (David) of Opelika; one nephew, Robert Dickson of Atlanta; one great-niece Amy Harmon Terry (Edward) of Fairhope; one great nephew, John Wesley Harmon of Montgomery; great great nephews Collins M. Terry and Alexander Smith Terry and one great great niece Miller Louise Terry, all of Fairhope.
A graveside service was held on May 26 at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Pine Apple. Reverend George Sedberry officiated and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directed.
