MILLIE WEST LISENBY

April 30, 1938 – May 12, 2026

Millie West Lisenby, 88, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Millie lived with extraordinary generosity, love and kindness. She was born on April 30, 1938, in Athens, Ga., to parents Clarence Henry West and Mildred Morton West of Warm Springs, Ga. She attended Auburn University and Huntingdon College, graduating from Huntingdon in 1960. She was married to Joseph W. Lisenby for 67 years until his death on April 21, 2026.

A devoted wife, exceptional mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she cherished family time, volunteering in church, and time spent with her many friends. She loved singing, music and holidays filled with family and laughter. As the wife of a United Methodist minister, she and her husband Joe served many churches throughout the South-Alabama and Northwest Florida region. Her faith, kindness and strength touched everyone she met. She laughed loudly, lived fully and made people feel welcome wherever she lived.

Millie is survived by her brother, Clarence Henry (Buddy) West III (Charlotte); her children, Joseph W. (Jay) Lisenby, Jr. (Susan) and Nancy Lisenby Benson; her grandchildren, Grace Benson Kelly (Jessie) and Colby Benson Halford (Jody); and her great grandchildren, Thomas Wayne Halford, Hallie Grace Halford and Annie Joe Kelly.

Her family asks that those who knew our mother honor her memory by showing kindness to someone in need. Rather than mourning a life cut short, Millie’s family invites friends to celebrate a life well lived at a Memorial Service for Millie and Joe on Friday, May 29, at the First Methodist Church of Greenville. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. in the church parlor and service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.
