DOROTHY BUTTS MURPHY

September 5, 1937 – March 26, 2021

Mrs. Dorothy Butts Murphy, 83, a resident of Greenville, went home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 26, at Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama. The funeral service was held Monday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Brother Herbert Brown officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service

The comital service was for private for family only.

Mrs. Dot Murphy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Raymond Murphy; parents, Gerald Butts and Bessie Ward Butts; sisters, Louise Phillips and Earlene Butts; and brothers, Phillip Butts, Frank Butts, Wentford Butts, Ralph Butts, and Julius Butts.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Gary) Hill, Kathy Murphy and son Trent Murphy all of Greenville.  She was blessed with five beautiful granddaughters, Tara (Brett) Montroy of Augusta, Ga.; Jade (Stephen) Conway of Hartselle; Laken (Luther) Shrader of Greenville, Connor Murphy-White of Greenville, and Hunter Murphy of Gulf Shores.  She was proud to be Gigi to four great-grandchildren, Hill Conway, Sarah Chase Conway, Emy Shrader, and Henry Montroy.

Dot loved Southside Baptist Church and its members, particularly the ladies in her Sunday School class.  She served in previous years as a Sunday School Teacher, WMU Director, Vacation Bible School Teacher and church choir member. Formerly, she worked at the Fort Deposit Bank, Priester’s Pecans and Murphy’s Clothing.  Above all jobs, she loved being a wife and mother.
