McKenzie shuts out J.F. Shields

The McKenzie Tigers traveled to J.F. Shields Panthers on Thursday night for midseason play. The Panthers were shut out by the Tigers 50-0.
McKenzie received the kick off to open the game. The Tigers made a hard, quick push downfield to the red zone.
Tiger Johnathan Davison zipped into the end zone and scored early in the first quarter.
Tiger Ayden Willsey made the two point conversion and McKenzie took the lead 8-0 with 9:30 on the clock.
The Panthers attempted to recover and gain field position but the Tigers recovered a Shields fumble by Malachi Tolbert with 9:14 left in the first quarter.
Willsey rumbled again and scored for the Tigers for a lead of 14-0.
Shields attempted an onside kick off but Tiger Drayden Simpson recovered the kick off for McKenzie. Davison then drove down field for another Tiger touchdown.
McKenzie continued with the momentum and closed the first half leading the Panthers 50-0.
Willsey completed the game with 11 carries, 76 yards total, three touchdowns, and one two point conversion.
Davison completed with six carries, 79 yards, one touchdown, one two point conversion, and a two yard touchdown catch. Simpson completed with six carries, 43 yards, one touchdown, and one two point conversion. Carter Gomillion completed with three carries and 25 yards. Quay Jackson completed with three carries and 52 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and one two point conversion. Levi Lee completed with two catches for 34 yards. Chris Shufford completed with one catch and one nine yard touchdown and Cam Ballard completed with one interception.
McKenzie will be on the road again next week to face the Pleasant Home Eagles with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
