Eagles topple Jets

The Fort Dale Academy Eagles traveled to face the reed and blue Jets of Banks of Bank Academy in Birmingham this past Friday and soared high in the second half to win 22-18.
Fort Dale got off to a rocky start against the Jets going scoreless in the first half and losing the ball twice by fumbles.
Banks, however, was able to score six points on a touchdown in the first quarter and added another six in the second quarter to make the score 12-0 at the close of the first half.
After halftime, the Eagles came out determined and took the opening kickoff for a touchdown on a two yards rush by Eagle running back Cole Salter.
Place kicker Clay Gardner nailed the PAT and the score was 12-7.
The Jets then answered with touchdown in the quarter but failed to convert a two point try make the score 18-7.
The Eagles would add their second touchdown with 9:41 left in the fourth quarter by running back Jackson Black on a 27 yard rush. He would also rush for the two point conversion.
Fort Dale would score once more at 7:53 by a Dain Winters’ 45 yard rushing touchdown. The PAT was good to make the score 22-18.
The Eagles defense would cause a Jet fumble late in the fourth to secure the game.
Offensive leaders for the Eagles were Salter, Winters, and Black. Together they combined for 327 yards rushing and each had a touchdown.
Defensively, Trip Albert, Tyler Hollyfield, and Black had four solo tackles apiece with Jackson Rogers and Austin Garcia each recovered a fumble.while Brock Tolson added five.
The 5-2 3A Eagles, next travel to face 6-0 Monroe Academy Volunteers in an area game.
The Volunteers took down Patrician Academy Friday night 20-18.
