Butler County football round up

BYRAY VAN COR

The Greenville Standard

Well, Butler County football teams went 1-2 under the Friday night lights this past week because Fort Dale had a bye week.

The Greenville Tigers hosted the undefeated Knights of Montgomery Catholic who were a 35-point favorite coming in and remain undefeated with a 50-14 victory over our Tigers.

The Tigers are 4-5 on the season and will have next week off before traveling Nov. 1 to Montgomery to face a 0-6 Park Crossing Thunderbirds team.

The Fort Dale Eagles remain 6-2 because they had a bye week. The Eagles are 4-0 and first in AISA 3A Region 2.

Next Friday night, they square off with the 5-2 Wildcats of Wilcox Academy at home.

This is an extremely hard one to call but the numbers say Wilcox Academy is a five point favorite, however, Fort Dale reins this one in by two points in their backyard.

The Georgiana Panthers were back on the road again headed southeast to face the Tigers of Elba.

This cat fight was a must win for  the 1A Region 2 run for the Panthers, but to no avail, the Elba Tigers emerged victorious 49-22.

The 5-4 Panthers have the 1- 7 Eagles of Pleasant Home at Harmon Field this Friday night.

The numbers say the Panthers are a six touchdown favorite with a possible shutout at home.

The McKenzie Tigers downed the Bulldogs of Brantley Friday night 52-44, which was an offensive seesaw battle.

The Tigers were favored to put this game in the win column at home. Now 8-1 and first in 1A Region 2 McKenzie has another ambush of Tigers to handle, the 2-6 Red Level Tigers.

McKenzie is a 42-point favorite in this matchup.

Obviously the McKenzie Tigers are this week’s Golden football award winner. Great job Tigers.
