The college football playoff semifinals are in.
On Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Orange Bowl, Penn State faced Notre Dame. Penn State was leading 10-0 when Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard was injured.
The backup quarterback led the Irish to a field goal before the half. Notre Dame took the second half kickoff for a touchdown to tie the game 10-10.
Notre Dame went up 17-10 at the beginning of the fourth quarter then Penn State tied it up 17-17.
Notre Dame then threw an interception which Penn State converted into a touchdown making the score 24-17 Penn State.
With less than eight minutes left on the clock, Notre Dame tied it up 24-24 on 53 yard pass. With less than two minutes to go, Penn State threw an interception and with seven seconds to go, Notre Dame kicked a field to win 27-24.
Penn State did two things in this game that came back to bite them. They quit running to their right and should have played for overtime.
Ohio State beat Texas 28-14 in the Cotton Bowl.
